Stearns Lodge Dedication Day
July 15, 2007

Starting at noon there was guided tours of the new facility. A specially created local Quest (a stylized kind of treasure hunt, if you're unfamiliar with this recent craze) presented a challenge to all comers. At 1:00, everyone was invited to a cook-out at the new barbeque pit. The formal dedication ceremony began at 2:00 with Ben Phinney as master of ceremonies, and the official plaque listing major donors was unveiled. Representatives of the Stearns Foundation were present to receive our enthusiastic acknowledgment of their crucial role in making the Lodge possible. A few reminiscences about Anna B. Stearns were also delivered, and other important participants were thanked.

Following the ceremony, a cake - representing landscapes familiar to us all - was served. Photos were taken of all attending caretakers and crew members, past and present, as well as a gathering of the descendants of early pathmakers, RMC incorporators and RMC members from 1910 to 1913.
